Is it possible to record from tape player to computer ?
I have a portable cassette player with a mic socket and earphone socket.
Is there a lead I can buy that will allow me to connect the tape player to my computer and record the tape player’s output with my music software?
If not then what do I need?
Here’s what I would do. I might not end up the best quality, but you’re recording from a tape… what do you expect?
I would get a headphone to headphone cable. Plug one end into the headphone jack on your tape player and the other end into the line-in jack on your computer.
Since the audio is on an analog source (tape), you’ll have to do a manual recording. Meaning, you’ll need software to record sound coming from the line-in while the tape plays like it normally does.
It isn’t free, but I use Nero Wave Editor. You can set it up to do a recording on any device on your computer. I just set it to do a line-in recording and hit play on the tape. When the tape is finished, stop the recording and save the file.
