When someone calls your license plate number in to the police what will they do?

Will the police call you or come to your door?
We were hopin to get some privacy and just talk because we never get the chance with all the distractions so we went to a dead end road and a truck came down and we sped out and drove down the road. Then we noticed he was following us and caught up. He was close enough to get our plate # but we were’nt sure because his windows were tinted and when we turned he stopped next to the street and just stood there

If someone calls in your plate number and says you were breaking a traffic law, nothing will happen. The police must witness the infraction. They won’t go on someone else’s word.

On the other hand, if there was a crime committed, such as a hit and run accident and someone gave the police the guilty driver’s license plate number, the cops would jump on it big time.
